We set out to find something to hold

Station 3: There, jour 2

And then you sit there. There and you don't know where. Somewhere beyond Nancy on the way to Dijon. So, you sit there – on the top of a foreign mountain, in a foreign country and there you look at foreign houses where foreign people living, loving, laughing and suffering. And suddenly, between all this foreignness, you find your familiar self.

When seeking truth the answer is the road

When seeking wisdom the journey is your home

Fight through the wind, fight through the rain, fight through the cold

We left ourselves behind on dancing wire

The loved ones we left back home will be our choir

Let the doubters be the stick, the thorn, the brier

Fight through the wind, fight through the rain
Dance in the fire

Sit down beside me and stay awhile

Station 2: NANCY, jour 2

Von schimmernden Vögeln zu goldenen Plätzen…

From shimmering birds to golden squares…

Des oiseaux chatoyants aux places en or…

Sit down beside me, and stay awhile
Til the night runs away
Til the morning rises and we part our ways
Til the end of our days

Le Carnaval des Animaux

Station 2: NANCY, jour 1

About sixty kilometers and a parking ticket later I've realized that swans are kind of hefty birds and that you can't compare Nancy with Metz. But there's a certain similarity between the cities and their feathered inhabitants – okay, now I've to take back the word "hefty". In Metz you can drift around the Moselle and enjoy the city with a borrowed boat out from the perspective of a swan or waddle along the quay.

And in Nancy, you'll find shimmering colors and a lot of small details…

First stop on my road-trip around France: Metz. Metz? Yes, Metz! But… Metz? Really? Maybe I should make my first stop rather at Nancy? I mean, Metz = Metzger (german word for "butcher")? No! Metz = Messins. And apart from this a lot of dancing swans around the Temple Neuf.

Premier arrêt pendant mon road-trip travers la France : Metz. Metz ? Oui, Metz ! Mais… Metz ?
